Blindness can impose a huge physical, emotional, and economic burden on the lives of not only the patient but that of their caregivers too. The impact of this foundation on the lives of individuals and families is truly life changing as suddenly previously blind or visually impaired people can resume their jobs which are crucial for providing for their families’ livelihoods.

300+ Cataract surgeries performed
5000+ screenings performed
500+ kids were seen and provided with free glasses.
The growing need and how we are scaling
As we try make eyecare more accessible in the Eastern Cape, we have become a victim of our own success where our initial goal was to serve Makana Municipality in partnership with the Dr Davies Clinic. They are becoming the access point for majority of Eastern Cape and thus need to increase their capacity in the following:
Surgical supplies for cataract surgeries and post op: intraocular lenses, gauzes, eyedrops, eye patches
Administrative support staff to manage the flow of patients and ensure that every patient is seen and treated as soon as possible.
Spectacle subsidies for patients who are still unable to afford the price for eyecare.
