The Miracle of Sight Starts With You

What We Do

We are on a mission to play our part to end preventable blindness throughout the Eastern cape and beyond.

In partnership with the Dr Davies Clinic, The Eion Hayes Fund powers:

Eye Care Clinic

provide eyecare services to the needy for a very affordable price. The eye test costs R50.00 and the glasses could be a maximum cost of R890. This is where we diagnose people with various eye diseases.

Kids C for free program

Through the Dr Davies clinic, we can conduct school screenings where we provide learners from underserviced schools with eyecare and glasses for free. This involves getting the learners transported from their schools to the Davies clinic.

Specialists

The Eastern Cape is a very underserved community when it comes to state eyecare services. Cataracts is one of the number 1 leading cause of preventable blindness and to have a cataract surgery could take years for a state dependent patient and whilst their state of living decreases. Majority of our cataract patients are still active members of society and need to provide for their families. (Look at Krishnavelli Pillay story).

SURGERY
Outreach Initiative

Traveling to rural and remote communities, including farms, to screen workers and provide affordable prescription glasses. In 2024, our team screened over 500 dairy farm workers, providing vision assessments, treatments, and referrals for specialist care.
